Audience Research

Over the next few months we’re focus group tastic! Here’s who’s doing what…

The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (GRCH) – is talking to audiences about their successful series - Conversation Pieces.

Scottish Opera – GGA recently completed a research project with Scottish Opera to profile their audiences during the SOOT tour of Hansel and Gretel. Due to the success of this project, the company wishes to repeat the research with Macbeth attenders later this month.

The Arches – want to know more about what motivates their thousands of attenders to visit the venue each year and why non-attenders are passing by.

Citizens’ Theatre – is asking audience members questions about all aspects of their relationship with the theatre.

Glasgow Sculpture Studios – want to encourage more students from Glasgow School of Art to use their facilities during term time and after graduation. With this in mind, GSS wish to carry out research with this key audience and their educational influencers.

Cumbernauld Theatre – Following research with their audiences, Cumbernauld Theatre is working with GGA to design and implement an Arts Ambassadors scheme to increase the reach and diversity of their attenders.

A Dance Website for Glasgow – GGA has been awarded funds from the Scottish Arts Council to develop a website dedicated to dance in Glasgow. The site will include event diaries for forthcoming performances, workshops, classes and much more. The project Steering Group has met for the first time and all the behind-the-scenes work is in full swing. We’ll be in touch with the launch date soon.

The Dance House – is working with GGA to look at all areas of their marketing, including branding and on-line activity.

GGA Audience Development Strategy – Taking into account your comments about audiences in and around Glasgow, the Board recently approved forward plans to address your city-wide issues. What will be done to tackle audience development in your backyard? There are six key strategic objectives - hear more at the AGM next month.

Backpack TV Used to Sell Fringe Acts
It could be a welcome antidote to the perennial Fringe irritant: the unwanted flyer. A comedy production company with ten years’ experience promoting Fringe shows has unveiled a new method of street salesmanship – portable television screens. Bound and Gagged Comedy has dispatched its promotions staff to walk the streets with the new sandwich board device, dubbed a ‘Roam Ad’, playing excerpts from selected comedy shows.
